Is half a day enough?

Allow three to four hours for a first look if you want to browse rather than hunt for a long list of products. Give yourself longer if shopping is the main purpose of your trip. This is a neighbourhood plan with one verified area pin; it does not claim every shop is individually mapped or reviewed. Use the Electric Town association's current shop map for exact destinations.

Begin at Electric Town Exit

Use JR Akihabara Station's Electric Town Exit. Other operators have different exits, so consult your station map first. Orient yourself outside, then choose two or three nearby shops. Avoid starting with a reservation that forces you to rush through an unfamiliar station.

Pick one main interest

For electronics, write down your model and compatibility questions. Ask directly about power requirements, language settings, warranty territory and returns before buying. For anime or game merchandise, shortlist the series and items you want. For arcades, decide a spending limit before playing. These are shopping suggestions, not claims about any retailer's stock or policies.

Spend 60–90 minutes on your main interest, take a break, then decide whether to return to a shop or explore another block. Comparing a few options is more useful than racing through ten names. Check individual opening times and stock before making a special journey.

Leave space for lunch

Allow 45–60 minutes to find a menu and a seat. Keep bags manageable, avoid blocking entrances and ask before photographing inside. With children, review venues and games before entering rather than assuming every shop or floor has the same audience.

The association publishes Sunday pedestrian-zone notices, including weather changes. Do not assume a traffic-free street on any day; use crossings when traffic is running.

Rain and onward plans

Shopping gives you indoor time, but transfers between buildings remain exposed. Shorten the shortlist in bad weather. Stay longer if everyone enjoys the shops; otherwise finish without adding a distant attraction to justify the journey. For another day's culture-focused outing, see Asakusa and Ueno.

Fit this into a longer Japan trip

Use the 10-day Japan itinerary or 14-day Japan itinerary to place this visit in a complete route with hotel nights, transfer days and luggage planning. Choose the matching city day or half-day; optional alternatives replace part of the plan rather than adding another full day.
